Best Mealime alternatives (Mealime shuts down Oct 21, 2026)

Updated

If you want Mealime's own recipes, the closest replacement is Meals Hub in Albertsons Companies store apps, which Mealime says is free and carries every Mealime recipe. If you want an independent app for quick meal plans and grocery lists, Samsung Food is the best free pick, with Prepear a close second.

We make Siloh. Here's how we judged:

  1. Does it do what Mealime did. Pick recipes for the week and turn them into one grocery list without extra work.
  2. What's free. We note exactly which planning features need a subscription.
  3. How quick it is to start over. Your Mealime account doesn't move with you, so setup time matters.
  4. Platforms. iPhone, Android and web.
  5. Will it be around. We left out apps that are shutting down.

What's happening to Mealime

Mealime's site says it will shut down on October 21, 2026. Here is what its closing page says, as of October 10, 2026:

  • Your data: All personal data will be deleted when the Mealime app shuts down. Until then, you can use your privacy rights, including deletion, under Mealime's Privacy Policy.
  • Pro subscribers: You won't be charged any more subscription fees before the shutdown. Mealime says Pro recipes and features are now open to all users.
  • Your account: It doesn't transfer to Meals Hub. You sign in to or create an Albertsons Companies store app account, and some preferences, like dietary settings, have to be set again in your Meals Hub profile.
  • Your recipes: Mealime says all Mealime recipes will stay available on Meals Hub, along with more recipes.

Can you export your Mealime recipes? Mealime's closing page doesn't describe an export tool, and it doesn't say whether favorites or grocery lists move to Meals Hub. Since the recipes themselves are staying on Meals Hub, the practical move before October 21 is to write down the names of the recipes you cook most, and screenshot any grocery lists or notes you want to keep. Assume anything left in the app is gone after shutdown.

1. Meals Hub (Albertsons Companies)

Best for: Mealime users who want the same recipes and don't mind using a grocery store app.

Albertsons Companies bought Mealime in 2021, and Mealime says Meals Hub is now its main recipe and meal planning home, run by the same core team that built Mealime's recipes.

  • Pros: Mealime says Meals Hub is 100% free, including recipes that used to be Mealime Pro, and that every Mealime recipe will be there. You can browse recipes, make meal plans and build shopping lists even if there's no Albertsons Companies store near you. It also works on store websites.
  • Cons: It lives inside a grocery store app (open the app, tap More, then Meals Hub), so it's built around shopping at that store's banners. Your Mealime account doesn't carry over, and some preferences have to be set up again.
  • Price: Free.

2. Samsung Food

Best for: a free, independent app that turns a weekly plan into a grocery list, close to how Mealime worked.

  • Pros: Save recipes from any website to a recipe box, drag them into a weekly meal plan, and turn any recipe or plan into a shopping list in one click. Works on iPhone, Android and the web, with a browser extension for saving recipes.
  • Cons: It doesn't hand you a ready-made plan for free. Tailored 7-day meal plans, saved meal plans, AI recipe features and nutrition goal tracking are part of Food+, and some Food+ features are mobile only.
  • Price: Free. Food+ is $6.99 a month or $59.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial. Prices vary by country.

3. Prepear

Best for: planning a full week on a calendar for free, from recipes you save.

  • Pros: The free tier includes saving and importing recipes with no limit, unlimited cookbooks, a weekly meal planning calendar, and grocery lists generated from your plan with adjustable servings and sorting by category. Works on phone, tablet and computer.
  • Cons: Cook Mode on other people's recipes, every meal plan on Prepear and creator content need Prepear Gold or a purchase. You bring the recipes, so the first week takes more setup than Mealime did.
  • Price: Free. Prepear Gold is an optional in-app subscription.

4. Plan to Eat

Best for: people who cook from their own saved recipes and will pay for a clean planner.

  • Pros: A recipe clipper saves recipes from websites, Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest. The calendar plans a week, a month or longer, and the shopping list builds itself from your plan, sorted by store and aisle. Syncs across iPhone, Android and the web.
  • Cons: No free plan after the trial.
  • Price: 14-day free trial with no card, then $5.95 a month or $49 a year, with a 60-day money-back guarantee.

5. AnyList

Best for: people who mainly used Mealime for the grocery list.

  • Pros: Creating and sharing lists is free, and you can add a recipe's ingredients to your list. Works on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, Android and the web.
  • Cons: The meal planning calendar is part of AnyList Complete, and the free plan is limited to 5 recipe imports from websites.
  • Price: Free. AnyList Complete is $9.99 a year for an individual or $14.99 a year for a household.

6. Eat This Much

Best for: having the app pick meals for you to hit a calorie target.

  • Pros: The free plan generates daily meal plans to a calorie target and diet type you choose, so you don't have to pick recipes yourself.
  • Cons: Weekly planning and the automatic grocery list are Premium only, which are the two things Mealime users relied on most.
  • Price: Free. Premium is $5 a month with an annual subscription.

7. Siloh

Best for: Mealime users who also train and want their meals tied to their workouts.

Siloh is a nutrition and training app that plans your meals and your workouts as one system, so training days and rest days eat differently. If you just want quick dinners and a shopping list, the apps above are a closer fit. If you lift, run or fight, Siloh does something Mealime never did.

  • Pros: No paywall on food logging, recipes, grocery lists, run tracking with GPS, streaks or the weekly report. Households can share dinners scaled per person with a combined grocery list. Pro builds meal plans around your training program and adapts after a skipped session.
  • Cons: iPhone only for now, with Android coming soon. AI meal plans, training-day and rest-day fueling and the AI coach need Siloh Pro. It's a newer app (launched July 30, 2026), so there are fewer reviews to go on.
  • Price: Free. Siloh Pro has a 7-day free trial, then $19.99 a month or $149.99 a year.

Also worth a look

  • Paprika Recipe Manager 3 is a one-app recipe box with a meal planning calendar and grocery lists that combine ingredients and sort by aisle. It's $4.99 on the App Store, and each platform version is sold separately.

How to choose

If you liked Mealime's recipes and shop at an Albertsons Companies banner, move to Meals Hub before October 21. If you'd rather use an independent app, Samsung Food and Prepear both give you a free weekly plan and grocery list. If you have your own recipe collection and want the cleanest planner, Plan to Eat is worth the price. If you train and want your food planned around your sessions, try Siloh.
